The 'beard' is a stress and dominance display, not always aggression
The dark, puffed-out throat that gives this species its name can signal several different things: feeling threatened, asserting dominance over another dragon, stress from handling, or simple excitement around feeding time. Context matters more than the beard alone — a beard with an open mouth and hiss usually means back off; a beard during feeding is often just excitement.
