Is Loose sand alone (no packing/mixing) a Safe Substrate for Bearded Dragons?
Unpacked, purely loose sand is a genuine impaction risk if regularly ingested during feeding strikes, particularly in hatchlings and juveniles whose digestive tracts are smaller. If using a sand-based mix at all, it should be a packed, blended substrate for healthy adults only — never loose sand for young dragons.
