Why it happens
Poor calcium status, an unsuitable lay site, dehydration, or an oversized or malformed egg can all contribute to a female being unable to pass an egg normally.
Reducing the risk
A suitable damp lay box, consistent calcium supplementation, and good hydration all lower — but do not eliminate — the risk in an actively breeding female.
Do not wait
