The genus Rhacodactylus includes several New Caledonian species

Besides the gargoyle gecko, this includes the New Caledonian giant gecko (Rhacodactylus leachianus) and the chahoua or mossy prehensile-tailed gecko (Rhacodactylus chahoua). The crested gecko was reclassified into its own genus, Correlophus, though it remains a close relative.
