Collard greens is rated "excellent" for gut-loading feeder insects. High calcium, great Ca:P ratio — a strong gut-load green if offering live insects as enrichment alongside CGD.
Sweet potato is rated "excellent" for gut-loading feeder insects. High in beta-carotene and complex carbohydrates. Good energy source for feeder insects.
Carrot (in moderation) is rated "good" for gut-loading feeder insects. Good beta-carotene but higher in sugar. Use alongside leafy greens rather than as the sole gut-load.
Apple (seedless) is rated "good" for gut-loading feeder insects. Provides hydration and energy for the feeders. Always remove seeds, which contain cyanogenic compounds.
Spinach is rated "avoid" for gut-loading feeder insects. High oxalate content binds calcium in the feeder's gut — counterproductive if gut-loading for calcium content.
Citrus fruits is rated "avoid" for gut-loading feeder insects. High acid content stresses feeder insects and may cause them to die before feeding.
