Gargoyle geckos can regrow a lost tail

Unlike the closely related crested gecko, which cannot regenerate its tail at all, a gargoyle gecko that drops its tail through autotomy will grow a new one over the following months. The replacement is usually smoother, shorter, and more bulbous, and lacks the original texture.
