The size of the head crests is not a reliable way to sex a gargoyle gecko

Crest prominence varies enormously between individuals of both sexes and is driven by genetics and line, not by hormones. Sex should be assessed from hemipenal bulges and pore structure at the tail base, not head ornamentation.
