Gargoyle geckos evolved in a mild, humid forest climate and have little tolerance for heat compared with desert reptiles. A heat wave, a broken air conditioner, or an enclosure placed in direct sun can raise temperatures to dangerous levels quickly, so placement and a backup cooling plan matter as much as any heating equipment.
