Why misting matters more than a humid hide here
Unlike a terrestrial burrowing species, a gargoyle gecko's whole enclosure needs to sit in the target humidity range, since it spends its time climbing rather than sheltering in one damp pocket.
How to hold it
Daily misting, a humidity-holding substrate such as coco coir, and live plants all help maintain the range. Balance this with real airflow so the enclosure does not turn stagnant.
Warning signs
Low humidity: retained shed, wrinkled skin, reduced feeding response. High humidity with poor airflow: mould, condensation, and skin problems.
